Vocabulalry:

1.     Tabula rasa = clean slate

2.     mnemonics = memory aids

3.     dopamine = chemical in brain needed to help send messages from one cell to another.

4.     neurotransmitter = a chemical that allows the transfer of information in the brain.

5.     serotonin = a neurotransmitter

6.     amphetamine = brain stimulant chemical

7.     semantics = small parcels of information that go together to create meaning. (ex: facts stories pictures, words)

8.     cortisol = also known as hydrocortisone, is a hormone from the adrenal cortex; they help us adapt to stress and 
glucose levels.

9.     emergentism = refers to the interplay of your genetic makeup and your environment.

10.  norepinepherine  = a catecholamine neurotransmitter, also produced in small amounts as a hormone in the adrenal 
medulla.  It helps keep you alert.

11.   episodic = coming in episodes or occurrences.\

12.   malleable = shapeable.

13.   acetylcholine = he most abundant neurotransmitter in the body and the primary neurotransmitter between neurons 
and muscles.  It plays an important role in motor behaviour and memory.

14.  hypothalamus = The main function of the hypothalamus is homeostasis, or maintaining 
the body's status quo. Factors such as blood pressure, body temperature, fluid and 
electrolyte balance, and body weight are held to a precise value called the set-point.  
This organ sits in the middle of the brain.

15.  vasopressin = hormone increasing pressure in the vein

16.  nadir = low point

17.  Freudian Slip = letting what you are really thinking slip out, and then trying to catch it.
18.   Unencumbered  = unhindered, free
