ASSIGNMENTS

1. Due Monday, Sept. 15. Write a paper describing the Romans. We began this in class by

reading the laws created by the Romans in the Twelve Tablets. You man copy the intro and

first paragraph from my site at: http://hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/waymac/History%20A/A%20Term%201/how_to_write_an_essay.htm. The

following three paragraphs are to be written by you and will be your original work.

Prepare toga and begin reading the info you found on Caesar.

2. Due Thursday, Oct 2. Write a paper defending the following thesis: The Roman army was

responsible for the rise and the fall of Rome.

3. Due Oct. 14. Self-evaluation for the Caesar Trial out of 20 points.

4. Due Oct 22. Self-evaluation for the Emperors Simulation.

5. Test Nov 5, on Republic and Empire, and the Origins of humans and the universe.

6. ESSAY (Rubric)

Pick one or the other:

a) Evolution should be taught in schools

b) Evolution should not be taught in schools.

Develop an introductory paragraph. In it, inform the reader of

past beliefs and truths that have brought you to write the paper. Also declare the position the paper

will hold.

In the body of your paper, develop three strong arguments that defend your position. Each argument

is to be developed in a single paragraph. Make sure that you explain why your argument is a good

one. Explain the logical conclusions your argument leads to.

Write a conclusion to your paper restating why the position you hold is a strong one.

Restate your major points for holding your position.

7. Due Monday, Nov 24. A flow chart outlining the relationship of the gods and humans in t

he Sumerian creation story.

8. Test: Monday Dec. 1 on Agricultural Revolution and Sumer.
