Kunta runs away many times

Foot amputated while trying to reconnect with Fanta; Kunta says, “I gonna learn to run.”

1780 – Genalda visits Kunta

Kunta and Belle jump the broom

1790 Toby and Bell become chattel of Dr. Willim Reynolds.

Kizzy (Stays put) born.

Fiddler dies

1806  Kizzy forges travel pass for Noah.  Kizzy sold to Mr. Thomas Moore.

Kizzy raped and gives birth to George.

George becomes “Chicken George.”

1824  Sam arrives in Kizzy’s life.  Kizzy refuses to marry him.

Dead black with gun found beside him.

1841 George and Mr. Moore win cock fight against Master James.   Master James’ slave, Marsellis, bought his own freedom for $2,000.  Nat Turner revolt (Revolt was really in 1831, not 1841 like the movie suggests).

Chicken George marries Matilda

Moore’s rooster loses to an Englishman.  George is given to him by Mr. Moore to cover his debts.

George goes to England for 14 years.

Tom and Lewis grow (George and Matilda’s children).

George returns, but only stays for 60 days.

1861   American Civil War

1863 Proclamation of Emancipation.

Jimie Brent is drowned by Tom.

1864 – baby Nathaniel Johnson (Old George’s son) dies.

1865 Civil war ends.  Lincoln assassinated by John Wilks Booth.

1866 Master Brent and the Night Riders appear.  Sharecropping begins.

Old George fools new owners to get supplies.

Old George saves Tom by pretending to whip him.

Chicken George returns again with a plan.

Chicken George’s family Escapes to new land in Henning, Tenessee.
