Griots = the ones who keep the oral tradition in African tribes

Oral tradition = passing knowledge on by mouth

Asiento system = the system of licensing people to capture slaves.

Dysentery = a disease characterized by severe diarrhea with passage of mucus and blood and

 usually caused by infection

Small Pox  = a deadly disease that creates spots (pox marks) all over the body.

Take Sustenance = to eat food

Contagious = a disease that you can catch.

Abolition  =  end, abolish

Detrimental  = harmful, dangerous 

Repercussions = negative side-effects

Reverberates = to make vibrations

Coffers = the place where money is kept

Qualms = difficulties

Industrial Revolution = a time when England began to create factories.

Compensation = to pay back for something lost

Monetary  = dealing with money

Reparation = paying back a country for the damages it received in a war.
