3,2,1 blast off! The grade six’s of B.S.S are blasting off to new learning experiences about astronauts.  We did an experiment to experience what it is like to be in a spacesuit.  One lucky person from each of the 3 grade six classes got to try on our super awesome spacesuits.  Milk cartons, oven mitts, rain boots, socks and a motorcycle helmet made up each spacesuit. They had to a variety of challenges first without the spacesuit than with the spacesuit. Some of the challenges we’re to remove items out of a school bag, take a CD out of it’s case and put it in another case, pour dried bean or beads into a Ziploc bag etc.  Some of the challenges were harder than others, but we still had a lot of fun doing it.

The first full week of school has been great ! We have started a unit on space. We have done 3 logs about space videos. Also we have been doing some art. The art was inspired by Pablo Picaso. We have had a visitor to. His name was Ryan Laird. He sang songs about how bullying is mean and not nice to do.  I think he inspired a lot of people. Also we have started talking about culture in social studies. This week we will be doing a project on it. Long story short school has been fun and 6 Tulloch is great!

So a new school year has started and we have lots of new people here in six Tulloch! School started on a Wednesday and that week we just got used to the routine of this classroom. This week (our first full one), we started to get used to our classroom jobs and started our puzzles of the day. We also got our STEAM NS room opened and are starting to get all the laptops and ipads ready for use. On Tuesday we had a special guest Ryan Laird who did an assembly and sang to us. He also spoke to us about anti-bullying and helped to let us know that our dreams can come true if you work hard. Much like his own personal experience. We are still getting to know each other here and are looking forward to a great school year!
