Department of Education EduPortal

The DoE EduPortal is your portal to many tools and resources.  In order to access the Eduportal you’ll have to register and will need your employee number (400xxxxx) to complete your registration.  As well, you’ll need your @staff username/password to access some of these resources, so even if you’re using your @hrsb email, don’t forget your @staff credentials!  Once you’ve registered and logged in you’ll be able to access:

Resource/Tool Description
Teacher Web Space A teacher web space service which allows educators to create their own websites.  This is a new service from DoE which uses Drupal as its platform. Tutorials are available.
Ednet Cloud File Storage This Ednet cloud allows IMP user to upload, download, share public and private
files. Furthermore, you can use this cloud with mobile technology such as
tablets and best of all it is located right here in Nova Scotia for educational
use.
Educator Site This is a web accessible folder (cloud folder) where curriculum documents are placed by education staff.  The documents added to this folder are either implementation drafts or in a format that permits re-use of the content. Hence they are restricted to Educators and are accessed through another login.
Education Media Library Search for videos that can be borrowed or dubbed for classroom use.
Digital Video Library (DVL) The Digital Video Library provides teachers in NS access to Professional Development video resources.  Videos can be viewed online, downloaded or a copy can be ordered from the Media Library.
Online Video Library Multimedia educational resources for grades K-12.
IMP Web Email Web-based email for teachers and students (though the Eduportal link is to the teacher mail).
NS Virtual School (Moodle) The NSVS Moodle site is a common provincial online learning platform, providing online delivery of courses, extension of the classroom, and professional development resources. Moodle spaces can be created by board technology integration personnel.
EBSCO Online periodical database with full text articles from Canadian and international newspapers and magazines.  Includes access to Canadian Reference Center Select, Gage Canadian Dictionary, a professional collection and an interface for younger and middle school students, as well as other resources. (There are many ways to access the EBSCO site.  Many schools have links on their website or shortcuts on school computers, you can find a link via the Staff page of the HRSB website, there is a link on the EduPortal, or you can click above to access EBSCO.)
Curriculum Cart Published versions of curriculum and related resources.
iNSchool A provincial system that manages core student information such as demographics, attendance, behaviour, achievement and schedules. Links provided for login to PowerSchool and PowerTeacher.
Math Item Bank The system is used by math teachers to create math tests from questions entered by the English Program Services staff.  A login is required. User accounts are created by EPS staff.
Nova Scotia School Book Bureau This system gives educators access to the catalogue of resources approved for classroom use. Educators may log in, gather resources into a shopping cart, and submit the order online as a request for purchase.
Share.EDnet Share enables the sharing of learning resources and professional materials (directly mapped to learning outcomes) designed and created by the NS Education community. Resource types are varied, and may include print, video, image and other formats.
