Back to Choosing Courses

When program adaptations offered through the Resource program are not sufficient for a student to achieve provincial course outcomes, the student’s Individual Program Planning team develops an Individual Program Plan, or I.P.P. Queen Elizabeth High strongly encourages and values parent/ guardian participation in the Individual Program Planning process.

The Learning Center program is designed to meet the diverse needs of students on Individual Program Plans. Students are educated in the least restrictive environment to the maximum extent possible. As they work towards completing graduation requirements, students will be provided with learning opportunities in the following areas: literacy, numeracy, social skills, life skills, career development, community living skills, communication, cognitive, motor, self-help/domestic, pre-vocational skills and leisure/recreational skills. Transition Planning from the school to the community is an important part of this program. All new requests for learning support through the Learning Center or Resource programs must be directed to the School Program Planning Team. The School Program Planning Team will decide if an assessment of the student’s learning needs is necessary and will make decisions regarding an appropriate program plan for the student. Teachers, parents/ guardians or school administration may make referrals to the School Program Planning Team. Referral forms are available in Student Services.
