Career Research Assignment

Using Internet resources, research a possible career in the field of Communications Technology you are presently planning on working toward or would like more information about.  Spend a bit of time career cruising (Username:  Millwood   Password: High) to help generate ideas if you are unsure.  Save the research portion as yournamecareerresearch.doc  and save the brochure as yournamebrochure1 in your fundamentals folder.

What high school courses and/or average are required for acceptance at this institution?

What diplomas/degrees are required for you to achieve your career goal?

How many years will it take to achieve the required diploma/degree?

7.    What are the duties and responsibilities of your career choice? Will you find these interesting? Explain.

8.    Identify three personal qualities/characteristics and three skills required for this career. Do you presently possess these qualities and skills? If not, how can you gain these skills or characteristics? (Career Cruising interviews will help)

9.    What are the job predictions for the future for this career? ( jobfutures.org website)

10.Where will you be able to find work? Are you willing to move to another area to find employment in this career? Explain.

12. What kind of benefits or perks, if any, can you expect from this career? (Such as: Travel, Bonuses, Health / Dental Plans, Company Vehicle, Pension, etc)

13. Is this career choice wise for you? Explain.

Start by answering these questions for your career choice in point form or in a chart and submit it to me for approval.

When you have finished your research, you will be creating a brochure in Microsoft Publisher.  The brochure is meant to be designed as if you were providing information to potential workers / employees at a career fair.

You are to create a 6 panel brochure including a minimum of 3 photographs related to the career or workplace.  All 6 panels are to contain information related to the questions in red above.  Remember this is a brochure not an essay.  Keep the information to the point, but make sure it is clear and answers any questions a potential employee may have.

You are also to create a company with a logo and contact information to be provided on the brochure.
