Student Warm-up Activity Hey! Can you believe we are already six weeks into this Drama10 course? The time is just whooshing on by. You are doing really well as individuals and really starting to come together as a group. We have built a good foundation with theatre games and exercises that allow our inner silliness to surface in the Drama gym. We have also started to learn about the importance of focus, focus, focus [my favourite word]. While I have thoroughly enjoyed leading you in our daily warm-up exercises, I think you kids are ready to give it a go. Here’s the deal: In the coming weeks you will be asked to sign up for a day to lead the warm-up and opening exercises. Once you have a date, start planning. Think about the warm-ups you would like to include in your session [these can be new ones or the tried and true]. Think about the music you would like to have playing throughout the activity. Then, sit down to write a proposal outlined below. Proposal Write a short description of the warm-up that you want to do with the class. Your description must include: · Purpose of warm-up (mental, physical, focus, etc.) · Complete explanation of the activities · Musical selection to accompany activities · Anticipated problems and remedies Warm-up While leading the class through the activity you will be evaluated on the following: · Leadership (voice, explanation, confidence) · Ability to keep the group on task · Innovativeness · Student's ability to be adaptive Reflection You will be required to reflect in writing on the success of your warm-up. You will include: · Did it go as planned - why or why not? · Did you have to improvise? · How did the class react to you? · How did the class react to the warm-up? · Comments on your leadership skills · Overall success of the activity · Due one day after warm-up
