We are very busy studying all sorts of new things. In Language Arts, we have started a new read aloud - Frindle, by Andrew Clements. In reading workshop, we are learning about selecting "just right" books. When we read, we are asking "I wonder" questions and making all kinds of connections - text to self, text to text, and text to world.
In Math, we are doing lots of graphing. We are learning how to read and answer questions about bar graphs as well as pictographs. We are asking survey questions, making tallies, and graphing our results. Grade 3's are learning about scale in graphing. We are also reviewing our strategies for addition.
In Health, we are examining the benefits of physical activity.
In Science, the Grade 2's are exploring air and water, while the Grade 3's are studying invisible forces - magnetism and static electricity.
