Georges. P Vanier Junior High 2006/2007
PHYSICAL EDUCATION (P.E) is an integral part of the total education program. Physical education contributes to the physical, mental and emotional development of the student. Physical education is a required course. All students are expected to participate in class unless they have a written note from parents/guardians excusing them. This will also apply for extended periods- 3 or more classes in a row where a doctor's letter must be supplied excusing them for medical reasons. Depending upon the medical problem, modifications can and will be made. If a student is ill or has a physical discomfort and is excused by a parent/guardian's written note, students will still be expected to be prepared for class. The extent of participation will depend on the student. This way they are prepared for p.e class and maybe able to take part in some aspect.
The physical Ed. program is developed so students may demonstrate the following:
* Maximum participation
* Enjoyment of physical activity
* Basic knowledge to obtain & maintain a high level of physical fitness
* Sufficient skill level to ensure enjoyment in lifetime physical activities
* Co-operation & leadership
* Team work
* Develop strategies & problem solving
Material required for physical education
In order for students to participate in P.E class they must dress appropriately. (See student agenda for school dress code)
Proper dress code would include:
* Shorts or loose fitting pants ( not restricting movement) ie. Sweat pants
* T-shirt/long sleeve shirt
* Non-marking sneakers
* SNEAKERS MUST BE TIED PROPERLY!!!!!!!
