Homework

Students are required to use Ziploc bags as message bags where they will bring notices and homework back and forth to school.  Students record their homework daily in their homework scribbler.  Please check the homework scribbler daily.

Regular home reading homework has now begun as part of our school-wide home reading program, Read to Lead/Lire C'est Grandir.  Students are required to do at least 15 minutes of reading during the week, for a total of 1 hour weekly.  Students are also required to share connections in class from their home-reading.  I would encourage you to engage with your child during his/her daily reading by using the prompts located in the front of the home reading duotang.

In order to better focus on our school's Literacy goals, students are required to read at home in both languages.  This will be the only regular homework program in place, as we feel this is most important.  However, should students require extra practice in a particular area of the curriculum, supplementary practice activities may be sent home (ie. before a test).

School-wide home-reading program Read to Lead!  Lire, C'est Grandir!

Students are required to do at least 15 minutes to reading during the week, for a total of 1 hour weekly (more is welcome!).  Together as a class we will total up all our reading hours and when we reach 500 we will have a class celebration!  Students should rotate between French and English reading.  Students each have a reading homework duotang containing a tracking sheet in the form of a monthly calendar.  Please use this to record their reading at home.  Please write the title of the book(s) and how many minutes were read.  Then I ask that you initial the date.  Inside the duotang there is also a list of discussion points (connections) to help you and your child engage in their reading.  It is strongly encouraged that you share with your child before, during, and after their reading.  Students will then be asked to share their connections with their at-home reading in class.  This may take the form of small group or partner discussions, small presentations, or one-on-one conferences.  Students are permitted to take home a maximum of 3 classroom books at one time to use during their home reading.  Please help me ensure books come back to our class : )  Happy reading!
