7. REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Trevor Doyle gave a verbal report.

Thanks to everyone for getting fall sports done. Soccer qualifiers are on now and if you are a host please get results into me as soon as possible. Recommendations that are moving forward are the track and field motions, cheerleading change of date. Volleyball first game date was defeated. Tie breaker in hockey has been changed. Fighting instigator rule was approved; the start up date was defeated. The number of games in hockey and in particular the amount of tournaments was discussed. Two championships are now involved in girls and boys rugby, division one and two. The NSSAF board committee for awards would like us to be aware that they exist and we should be nominating more individuals. We need nominations for the Dorothy Walker Award, think of suggestions from your school. This is my last year in this position, so if you are interested in it, please contact me..

8. COORDINATOR’S REPORTS

a. Boys Hockey – HW: Mike Smeltzer/Frank Hubley

Four officials works well and all is going well.

b. Girls Hockey- JLI: David Algee

Going well. Seems to be a problem with the website, I am looking into it. Goaline is working on it.

c. Boys Division One Soccer – SJA: Scott Pellerine

Congratulation to Citadel High for winning the division one metro banner and Auburn for winning the division two metro banner. Congratulations to Dartmouth High for winning the Capital Region banner and hosting the division one Provincials. I thought the two tier league went well, I propose we go with the same set up for next season with at least one team moving up a division and at least one team moving down. I will send out a summary to all coaches and AD's over the next few weeks to get feedback from this season. This season was shorter so scheduling of games at times was a bit of an issue, next year it should be better. Thanks to Ann Marie Hurlburt for all her hard work with he schedule and to Bryce Ried for coordinating the refs.

d. Girls Division One Soccer – HW: Mike Smeltzer / Roy Snook

Roy will send something in.

e. Boys/Girls B Soccer – Armbrae: Susan Beazley

Millwood beat CPA in the girl’s side. Sommet and Fountain are top two on boy’s side game still to be played. Refs will be paid up front next year.

f. Boys Volleyball – CIT:  Trevor Doyle

League is tiered, 6 and 7.  All teams are in playoffs. Regional breakdown for playoffs will be sent out this week. I would like to get feedback from the billing and how it works out.

g. Girls Volleyball – SHS: Jill Jeffery

Going well. I would like to get feedback on if tiring might work out next year. December 8th is the tentative date for the all-star game. Grant is doing a good job of assigning the refs.

h. Girls B Volleyball – ES: Tamara Muise

No issues to discuss.

i. Golf – HG: Tim McGarrigle

14 boys teams. CPA won. Girls are up from 8 to 12 golfers.

j. Baseball – PA: Bob Mayo/Louis Aube

Bob submitted a report that was sent out to all AD's. Discussed the league and some things that might happen next year and how the league is growing.

k. Cross Country Metro and Regional – CIT: Steve Harris

Three races in the metro series and the Regionals were last week. All information on provincials and qualifiers was sent out already. Trackie website was used for Regionals, this worked well at the high school level. Provincials are on Monday.

l. Boys A Basketball – CIT: Steve Harris

All schools were at the coaches meeting and the schedule is out. Any changes please let the AD's know at each school and me as well. One tier this year.

m. Girls A Basketball – DART: Peter Halley

Meeting was done and first draft of schedule has been sent out. A few minor changes and all seems to be good to go.

n. Boys B Basketball – FOUNT : Jason Scott/ Peter Moores

Coaches meeting on Tuesday October 21st at 6:30pm.  Fountain Academy room 501 on first floor.

o. Girls B Basketball – S.H. : Annette Sherlock

Coaches meeting on Monday October 27th at 6pm.at Sacred Heart. Please bring no play dates and gym availability.

9. New Business

Trevor Doyle; when there is no declared host like in football and baseball for example, can we share the hosting duties between the teams from Metro. Think of the other teams; help out if you can.

Jill Jeffery: Discussion about the staff advisor rule that we are the only board that has to do this. Can we look at this as only the home team has an advisor supplied for both teams? Can it just be that hockey and football teams each have a representative and all other games we agree as an association that only one teacher is needed between two teams?

Steve Wilcox: In regards to sports teams going on a trip overnight, deadlines are often very unrealistic, can exceptions be made?  What can happen with this?

Donna Duggan is going to try and talk to Tim Simony about these issues.

Adjournment:

Meeting Adjourned at 8:24 pm

Moved:  Steve Wilcox

Seconded:   Sue Beazley

Next meeting will be Monday November 24th at Halifax West 7pm.

If you have anything you wish to add to the agenda, please contact Donna Duggan or Scott Pellerine one week prior to the next meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Scott Pellerine
