2.     APPROVAL OF MINUTES – January 12th, 2009.

a.     The treasurer, Donna Duggan, reported the following financial


      Shares         $   360.37

      Plan 24       $     20.23

      Checking     $ 5213.30

      Equity         $     10.00


b.     Receipts were issued.


c.      Track Starter Pistols: New purchases were mentioned.





a.     Metro was asked by NSSAF if we would sponsor a table at the Celebration of School Sport.  Metro has agreed to donate $500.  Individual schools can also sponsor a table.

b.     A letter was received from the coach of Citadel High School girl’s basketball coach to their principal regarding their attempt to be fair in not ‘running’ game scores.





a. Game Sheet Submissions and Penalty for failing to do so.

    Deferred to next meeting.


b. Soccer Forfeitures: Penalty?

It will be up to the coordinator to decide which penalties they will enforce as a result of soccer forfeitures.  These guidelines must be clear at the start of the season.


 c. We are still in need of a coordinator for Girls Fast Pitch.

     Auburn has agreed to coordinate the Girls Fast Pitch.




     Darrell Dempster game a verbal report.

     Cheerleading: Regional Meet winner will be the host for Provincials.

     Celebration of School Sport will be May 1st.

     Please submit your school vote for the Hugh Noble Award. Names that were raised include Teddy Wallace and Carmen King.

     If you are interested in the Regionals Director position, please let Darrell know by March Break.

 Shandi Nickolet submitted a written report



b. Boy’s A Basketball: Prince Andrew: John MacDonald/Brad Martin

       John MacDonald gave a verbal report.



c. Boy’s B Basketball: Millwood: Adam White

    Adam White gave a verbal report.



d. Girl’s A Basketball: Dartmouth: Kevin Epp

   Kevin Epp gave a verbal report.

   The All-Star game will need to be sanctioned.



e. Girl’s B Basketball: Sacred Heart: Annette Sherlock

    Annette Sherlock gave a verbal report.

    Results will be sent via e-mail.



f. Boy’s Hockey: Cole Harbour: Craig Campbell/Reg Bezanson

 Craig Campbell gave a verbal report and submitted two rule changes. Further discussion will occur at the next meeting.


 A new hockey coordinator is required for next year. Please talk to school staff.



g. Girl’s Hockey: CP Allen: Ray Robertson 

  Ray Robertson gave a verbal report.

  All information is posted on the website.


       Time-outs: We are presently following minor hockey rules - no time- outs due to time constraints. There will be no time-outs for play-off games. If there is a shootout in a playoff game, a coin toss will determine the choice of who shoots first.


       Cancelled games: we are behind many games. Please reschedule all missed games.

       Pay referees before the game.

       If you have available ice time that is not being used, please let Ray Robertson know.

  m. Boy’s Rugby: Citadel: Trevor Doyle/Chris Sutton

  n. Girl’s Rugby: Auburn: Colin Bush/Kevin Wheatley

       There will be coaches meeting at Auburn on Thursday March 5th at 7pm. Please bring your no play dates to the meeting.

       The girl’s games will take place on Tuesday and Thursday.

         The season will start April 7th.

       Capital Championships will be Saturday May 23rd.

       Provincials will be in Cape Breton on June 5th & 6th.



o. Badminton (City): Halifax West: Donna Duggan

          City:  April 1st & 2nd at Citadel High School

          Regional: April 8th at Citadel High School


p. Badminton (County): Lockview: Darrell Dempster/Jake Crawford

          Country:  April 2nd at Lockview.





a.     Track: Concerns were raised regarding IB Exams during Tuesday May 19th and Thursday May 21st for senior athletes. There was a request to change the schedule. The schedule will not change but we will try our best to accommodate.

b.     Hockey Coach Honorariums:  Anyone aware of this situation?
