Course Outline
Global Geography 12 is a course that allows students to explore the world in which they live, understand its contemporary planet condition and examine solutions to maintain it and its people for future generations.

General Curriculum Outcomes :
Students will be investigating the following general course outcomes and are expected to meet the specific curricular outcomes associated with each unit by the end of the semester:
- Develop both an individual and a shared responsibility for the well-being of the planet, its life forms, its resources and its peoples
- Acknowledge that individually and collectively each person makes choices that have an impact upon the natural environment, locally and globally
- Acquire a working knowledge of geographic methods, techniques, and skills whereby they are better able to study and understand the world around them
- Explain and illustrate the interrelationships among, and the interdependence of, global mechanisms and systems
- Recognize, examine and explain changing world conditions, and identify and discuss emerging global trends
- Recognize, appreciate and describe the great geographic diversity within and among the nations and the regions of the world
- Respect diversity among the world cultures and acknowledge various perspectives on human and natural environments and on global affairs and issues that are generated by cultural diversity

Class Materials :
Students will be expected to have the following with them for each class:
- Textbook
- 3-Ring Binder and Loose-leaf
- Pens, Pencils and Erasers
- Coloured Pencils or markers
- Metric Ruler
- Calculator
- Some Graph Paper
- Password for school computer network
Classroom Expectations :
- Respect the learning environment by not talking while others are talking .
- Cell phones are prohibited, as stated in SHS code of conduct.
- Accept responsibility for every action you take.
- Respect yourself by putting 100% effort into your work.
- All work for this course will be completed by every student.
Any assignment found to be plagiarized in any capacity will be automatically assessed a mark of zero. Students will not be given the opportunity to make up an assignment that has been plagiarized. Students are encouraged to read the section on academic honesty in the student handbook.

Hot Topics Done every class and kept by the students in their binders as study tools |

Media Connections Journal These will be reflections done about videos, films, songs, articles and web-based resources |

Final Exam Done at the end of the course, end of the semester |

Extra help for this course is available in room 316 every Wednesday at lunch. Extra help appointments can also be made by mutual agreement with the student and teacher either before school, at lunch or after school.
