             PE Leadership 12 program is an invigorating and an adventurous undertaking. Students taking this course will be required to learn to set up and run a variety of programs in the school and in the community. Students will be responsible to volunteer at organizations and events in the school and the community. Students will be given opportunities and tasks that will teach new leadership skills as well as improve on the skills that they already have. Stepping out of your comfort zone and be willing to individualize your work ethic and taking a risk rather then depending on others is what this course is all about. Students are expected to display a strong personal work ethic and accept responsibility throughout the course.

      The course outline will be based on :

  • Outdoor Adventure Activities

  • Physical Activities

  • Project Base Learning Experiences

  • Community Service Component.

 Outdoor Adventure Activities:
Students will develop skills which promote lifelong outdoor leisure pursuits.
Students will develop an appreciation of the contribution outdoor pursuits make to personal fitness.

-         Orienteering, Geo Caching /GPS, Hiking, Kayaking, Downhill skiing , Winter Survival and a Camping Trip.

 Physical Activities:
Students will participate in a variety of nontraditional and traditional sports.
Students will demonstrate leadership skills through peer teaching.

-         ice breaker activities, cooperative team building activities, cardiovascular activities, fitness tests, skating, swimming, golf, archery and personal fitness development days.

 Students will participate in 20 hours of physical activity. Time must be logged with a witness

.Project Base Learning: (PBL)
Students will work together in small groups to plan and organize special events within the school and or community. As a fitness leader you are a role model to motivate and encourage others to get involved in daily activity.

Ideas: Volleyball and Basketball Tournaments,  Fitness Center Leader, Dodge ball Tournament , Badminton Regional and Provincial Tournament, Intramurals (tournaments, 3 on 3 basketball, 3 pt. contest…etc) and other. 

Community Component:

Students will research opportunities within the community and volunteer 10 hours to participate and develop leadership skills in a sport or recreational setting.

  Exam:

The class will plan and organize an event. To be discussed by  the class.

 Evaluation: TERM 1 and 2 (70%)
