The All about Me Health Project
During the month of September and part of October students will be working on an All about Me Project. There is a home component called the Me Bag and a school component called the All about Me Scrapbook. The outline for the Me Bag can be seen below. Students will need to bring in three pictures of themselves for the school component of the project. They will need one picture of themselves as a baby or toddler, another one when they were about 7-9 years of age, and a recent picture of themselves. (These can be original pictures or color copies.)
Make a “Me Bag”
The more you know about yourself, the better your chances are of living a life that you will enjoy.
Follow these directions to make a “Me Bag”:
1. Start with a plain paper grocery bag or a gift bag.
2. Cut out words and or pictures from old magazines that describe places and activities that are important to you.
3. Paste the words and pictures on the outside of your bag. The outside of your “Me Bag” tells other people a lot about you and the things you like.
4. Place 3-5 items inside your “Me Bag” that are very important to you.
Use items that represent a success you had or a place you enjoyed visiting or include any other objects that provide you with a pleasant memory. Be sure to only use items that are classroom appropriate.
5. Be prepared to share your “Me Bag” with the class by:
a. Displaying the bag in front of the class so all the students can see the decorations.
b. Presenting the items you have placed in the bag so all students can see.
c. Explaining how the items, words, or pictures reflect the person you are.
d. Remember in any oral presentation, you must include an introduction, main ideas and conclusion.
6. Be Creative and have FUN!!!!!
Title – “All About Me” Scrapbooks
By – Rex Houston
This project will allow the students a creative avenue for introducing
themselves to me (the teacher) and some of their classmates who may not know
them. The project must be in correct order and have an original title and will
be presented orally to the class. The order of the scrapbook should be as
follows:
Picture Page (at least 1 page)
Hint: Tape original pictures instead of gluing them or use color copies
On this page the students will provide three pictures of themselves. They will need one picture of themselves as a baby or toddler, another one when they were about 7-9 years of age, and a recent picture of themselves. Under each picture they must describe the picture (when and where it was taken, do they like it, why or why not?).
Symbols Page (1 page for each symbol for a total of 5 pages)
On this page the students must draw or glue items onto a page that represents some aspect of their lives. The students must provide a description of each item, the reason they chose it, and how it relates to them. This must be in writing. Each student must do at least five items. These items can be cut from a newspaper or magazine, or they can be drawn.
Journal Entry
Write a one page journal entry entitled “Three things you need to know about _____________ (fill in your first and last name)”. The entry should have an introduction that identifies the three things you want us to know about you, a body containing three paragraphs (one for each of your three things you want us to know), and a conclusion summarizing the entry.
Completed Interest Inventory Sheet
This handout was given to the students in class. It must be completed and placed in their scrapbooks.
Completed Learning Styles Sheet
