My name is Alanna Martell and I teach P-6 French Immersion Resource here at École Shannon Park School.  This is my ninth year at Shannon Park and my fourteenth year teaching with the HRSB.  I have taught Core French and various grades at the elementary level in my teaching career, including Grade Two here at Shannon Park for the past seven years. I'm very excited to be teaching French Immersion Resource! I enjoy coordinating various school activities, particularly our monthly assemblies and annual Talent Show, as well as working with several school committees.  In my spare time I like to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.

My educational background:

- Bachelor of Arts in French from Dalhousie University in association with Université d'Aix-en-Provence, France (1996)

- Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Vincent University (1998)

- Master of Education in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Vincent University (2003)

- Master of Education in Literacy Education from Mount Saint Vincent University (2008)

- Master of Education in Curriculum Studies - focus on French Immersion Resource from St. F.X. University (May 2012)

My teaching philosophy:

I try to consistently model respectful and caring behaviour and language for my students All students are encouraged to do their very best every day and everyone's individual strengths are acknowledged.  I really enjoy the challenges and rewards of teaching and I hope that it shows :).  Every day is an adventure!
