Report Format
Your
book report must include each of the following elements:

Introduction
2.
Title
3.
Author
4.
Number of Pages
5.
Genre (adventure, science fiction, picture book, young
adult fiction, non-fiction, reference)
6.
Plot Summary
Using at least 10 sentences, in your own words, retell
some main events in the story. Do
not reveal the ending,
7.
Setting
Describe where
and when the
novel takes place (city, country, year, and decade)
8.
Characters
Describe the main character in detail – name,
age, physical appearance,
personality.
Describe in one sentence what “journey” the main
character is on.
Describe the secondary characters– names, ages,
and their relationship to the main character.
9.
Favourite Scene
Copy, word for word, in quotation marks, one or
two sentences from the
book, with page number, that is your favourite part in the book.
10.
Illustration
Illustrate, on 8 ˝ X11 in, white paper, your favourite
scene (above). Extra points will be given for detail (colour,
setting, action, special
effects).
11.
Evaluation
Write two or three sentences describing your feelings
about this book (enjoyed
the setting, loved the characters, hated the villain, found plot
boring, will read other books by the author, recommend it
for children who love adventure and suspense). Extra points
will be given
for specific details!
