Welcome to ART 10!!!!
This course aims to develop
visual skills through exposure to a variety of art media and working processes.
It will promote the understanding and recognition of the elements and principles
of design in both contemporary and historical works. Students will use these elements and principles in their own art. We will cover the
following units: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, & Mixed Media.
EVALUATION:
30% Understanding and Connecting with Time and Space
40% Creating, Making and Presenting
30% Perceiving and Responding
REQUIRED SUPPLIES
Students are asked to purchase the following and arrive
with them DAILY:
- Sketchbook * with heavy
paper, 9x12 preferred size
- Drawing Pencils and pencil sharpener
- Coloured Pencils
- White Erasers
- Glue Stick
*Occasionally, additional materials may be desired or
required.
ROUTINES
- Due dates for studio projects will be assigned based on
progress of the class.
- The first 10minutes of class are extremely important:
assignments submitted, attendance taken, the day’s instructions given, etc.
The door will remain closed during this period, so ARRIVE ON TIME!!!!
- The sketchbook will be used to take notes, work out
project ideas, gather resources for future projects, etc. Students are
expected to take their sketchbook with them to class EVERYDAY!!!!
- The class will take part in critiques for the purpose of
learning how to analyze art and how to make more informed decisions in their
own art. We will be critiquing both the work produced in class and the work
of established artists.
- RESPECT is the key to creating a productive and
comfortable artistic space. Anything less will not be tolerated.
