The Halifax Explosion:

We will be doing a unit of study on the Halifax Explosion the end of November and beginning of December.  Students will study media, write a newspaper article, and have discussions of the event.

World Culture Unit

Students will be participating in a study of different celebrations around the world.  Students will focus of different aspects of Culture, cultural influences on Canada, and how cultures change over time.  Students will work in groups to create a Celebration Project.

African Heritage Unit

In February students will be learning about different aspects of African Heritage.  Students will be engaged in different activities and enjoy a guest speaker as well.

April/May

These two months will focus global issues and Children's rights.  Students will learn about the unequal distribution of wealth and will be introduced to GDP for different countries.  Students will demonstrate what they have learned about Child Rights through the creation of dioramas.
