April Assignments

Monologue - Due April 3, 4 and 5, 2006. The Monologue Idea Sheet is due on Thursday, October 27, 2005 (to be handed in as Journal 7). The Character Concept Sheet and a copy of your script is to be handed in on the day you perform your monologue (to be handed in as Journal 8).

Personal Story Telling - This was an in-class assignment performed on Monday, April 10, 2006. Tell a story that is true, about you and audience appropriate. (Marked out of 5 points)

Fairytale Half-Life Activity- This was an in-class assignment performed on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. In a small group prepare and perform a fairytale. The same story must then be performed in one half the time. (marked out of ten, 5 points for effective use of practice time and 5 points for performance)

“Oh, Why, Sorry” Activity – This was an in-class assignment performed on Tuesday, April 18, 2006. In small groups create a short scene using “oh, why, sorry” as the only dialogue and perform these in front of the class. (Marked out of ten, 5 points for effective use of practice time and 5 points for performance)

Short Scripted Scenes – This was an in-class assignment prepared on Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 and performed on Wednesday, April 26, 2006.

In small groups create a short scene that incorporates the Five Elements. As this project will take three days to complete, the expectation is that it will be performed as a well-practiced, directed scene with all lines and blocking memorized. Please refer to the Stage Basics handout for more information.

(This assignment will be marked out of 20 with 8 points for effective use of practice time, 8 points for the actual performance, 2 points for self evaluation and 2 points for peer evaluation.)

Students must hand in their script with blocking notes for the scene they perform / direct. Students must also hand in their Director's Worksheet or Character Concept Sheet for this assignment. (to be handed in as Journal 12.)

May Assignments

Short Mimed Task - This was an in-class assignment (solo or with a partner) prepared on May 9 and performed on May 11, 2006.

Short Plays - Performance date is Friday, May 26, 2005. Click on the link to get copies of the plays used in class. Students must hand in their script with blocking notes for the short play in which they perform / direct. The script will count as part of the Journal mark. Mime to Music - Due Monday, May 29, 2006. Students must also hand in the Mime to Music Idea Sheet that is attached to this document. The Idea Sheet will count as part of the Journal mark. Make sure that you have your music ready (on CD, MP3) for the performance!
