Improvised Playlet (Putting Down the Dog) - This is an in-class group assignment (groups of 3 or 4) assigned on September 28 and performed on October . Click here to view the evaluation rubric.

Creating Context Assignment and Decontextualized Dialogues - Students create a scene lasting at least 3 minutes using one of the dialogues on the page. The context of the scene (environment and character relationship) are to be clearly established in the scene without adding any extra dialogue. This is an in-class partner activity. Ten-Minute Play Script - This assignment follows the same format as the Eastern Front Theatre Ten-Minute Play Contest. Students are encouraged to develop their plays in accordance with these rules for submission to the Eastern Front contest in the spring.

The Character Work Sheet and a copy of your script (with extensive blocking notes - check out the handout on "Stage Basics" for a refresher of some theatre language) is to be handed in on the day you perform your monologue. The work sheet and script will count as part of your journal mark.
