Hackmatack is a literacy program open to Grades 4-6 in Atlantic Canada. Children can choose to read five books from a selection of either Fiction or Non-Fiction books from Canadian authors and then vote on what they thought was their favorite book.

The Hackmatack program  is an excellent way to help promote literacy and advance reading among school-aged children in Atlantic Canada and runs from November 2009- mid April 2010.

Sign-up for the Hackmatack reading program will take place in November and meetings are held every Monday at lunch in the library where the students can sit back and enjoy their Hackmatack picks during silent reading.
