Important Notices

Lost or damaged library books have to be replaced and the total costs of replacement will be incurred by the student or staff member who borrows the book. The costs include:

1. The original price of the book

2. Processing fees

3. Inflationary costs

(Oftentimes, the price of a book exceeds the original price paid for it. The increase in price must be passed on to the patron.)

 Library Expectations

School Libraries are a place for quiet study and research for the whole school community, both students and staff. The Library is not a lounge or a place to socialize -- use the cafeteria.  Behaviour expectations are necessary to ensure that everyone who uses the Library may do so in a pleasant and productive manner.  The following ten "expectations" are meant to be guidelines to facilitate the Library's purpose. Above all,  it is expected that all who use the school library follow and comply with these simple and reasonable expectations of behaviour that are appropriate to adults both young and old. Persons failing to follow any expectation may be asked to leave the Library.

1.  Be reasonably quiet.

2.  Do not disturb others.

3.  Have something school related or productive to do.

4.  Show respect for others and for school property.

5.  Follow the Computer/Internet Acceptable Use Policy when using computers in the Library.

6.  No cell phone use in the Library.

7.  No playing Internet or Video Computer games.

8.  No eating in the Library at any time.

9.  No profanity.

10.  DO ACT in a mature manner befitting a young adult.

Other concerns and information:

Student ID cards now required to borrow books.

Bottled drinks are permitted in the Library.

Students may borrow up to 4 items at a time for 2 weeks.*

More On Borrowing

* Borrowing Library materials assumes student responsibility to return the item ON TIME. Students may or may not receive OVERDUE NOTICES.  It is not the Library's responsibility to continually inform the Borrower when the books should be returned. At the time the book is borrowed, Library Staff will stamp the Due Date in the back of the book and TELL the student that the book is due on or before that date. Unless otherwise agreed upon by the Borrower and Library Staff, all library books and materials must be returned ON OR BEFORE the due date. Students will lose borrowing privileges until overdue Library material is returned. In addition, once books become overdue, students risk having their name sent to the Office and/or having phone calls made home. ALL LOST OR DAMAGED/DESTROYED BOOKS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT STUDENTS' EXPENSE.

BOOKS FIRST BECOME OVERDUE ONE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY AFTER  THE DUE DATE.
