Required Materials: loose leaf paper, graph paper, pencils, eraser, math set (including a compass and a ruler), and a scientific calculator. When required, a TI-83 graphing calculator will be provided for use in class.
Attendance: Regular attendance is essential. Come prepared and on time. Students who miss class or arrive late are reminded of the J.L. Ilsley attendance and late policies. It is your responsibility to keep track of missed work due to absence.
Expectations: Students registered in Math 12 advanced should be aware of the increased curriculum expectations and fast pace. Students should bring with them a strong, independent work ethic. If at any time during the course you do not understand a concept, extra help is always available. You can see me for extra help or visit Room 237 during lunch where a math teacher will always be on duty. Being prepared for class will allow you to ask “good questions” and get solutions to your individual problems. Do not let problems pile up!
Homework Policy: Assignments must be submitted at the beginning of the class in which it is due or it will be considered late. Late assignments will be accepted, however, points will be deducted for lateness. Students who fail to turn in assignments in a timely manner will be assigned extra help sessions to complete and submit missing work.
Test Policy: Students can expect at least two days notice for quizzes, and one week’s notice for tests. When a student does not write a scheduled test, a mark of “zero” will be recorded unless prior arrangements have been made and/or an acceptable excuse has been provided. Make-up tests and quizzes will be considered on an individual basis, depending on the circumstances.
Textbooks: Each student is expected to return the textbook he/she has been issued or pay for the replacement cost (the current replacement cost for this textbook as of Feb 2012 is $64.95).
