Activity 2: Identifying Run-ons

From reading Exercise 10, you should know that a run on sentence occurs when two independent clauses are joined together without any punctuation or conjunction.  You should also know the three simple ways to correct run-ons:
1)  Separate the independent clauses with a period.
2)  Separate the independent clauses with a semi colon.
3)  Join the clauses together by adding a comma and coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so - fanboys).

Examine the following sentences.  In those sentences which contain run-ons indicate where the clauses should be separated with a star (*).  In your notes rewrite the incorrect sentences correctly.

1.  I love math I could solve problems all day!
2.  I want to go to Europe but I don't have the money.
3.  Kelly likes Brian and he likes her.
4.  My dog is so cute she is only one year old.
5.  I stayed for help in History it helped a lot.
6.  She went to Egypt on vacation and bought me a souvenir.
7.  He has her number he's too shy to call.
8.  She's an amazing skier she wins races all the time.
