Project description: You will be examining modern music as poetry and via a web page you’ve created, present your findings with the class.

Project details: You will select a song that you feel is poetic and present that song to the class. You will create a web page around your song. The song must have poetic merit; that is, it must employ at least 2 figures of speech or poetic devices and require interpretation to some degree. In other words, the song’s meaning must not be entirely straight forward. In your presentation via the web page you’ve created:

Present the song’s lyrics and play the song (from CD)
Provide brief biographical information on the song writer(s) or group.
Provide a detailed explanation of the song’s meaning making references to parts of the song that support your interpretation, being sure to include identification of the speaker, tone, theme and significance of title of your song in this discussion.
Identify at least two various figures of speech or poetic devices located in the song’s lyrics (avoid assonance and consonance).

Presentations begin Wednesday, June 7and run through Monday, June 12.
