Choose one of the essay topics below and write a well organized and well thought out essay. Remember to use the essay form you’ve studied in class and be sure to use examples from the novel to support your ideas.
Choice # 1
One aspect of Losing Eddie deals
with the concept of lost innocence and lost childhood. Using examples
from the novel discuss how you believe the loss of innocence and childhood
may affect a child growing up (their perspective on the world, their beliefs,
and the choices they make). Also include I your essay, your beliefs
on how these effects may carry over into a child’s adult years.
Choice # 2
Using your knowledge and understanding
of the term ”hero”, write an essay explaining how Mama might be considered
the hero of the novel. Note: You may want to begin by defining your
ideas of the term hero.
Choice # 3
This novel revolves around a
family who, ultimately, survives crisis. Write an essay explaining
how a family deals with crisis and what factors must be present in the
family “relationship” in order for a family to survive. Be sure to
draw examples from the novel, but you may also include outside sources
such as TV, movies, personal experiences, etc.
