Reading Log / Carnet de lecture
It's ideal for students to be reading for 20 minutes, 4-5 times a week. In our Carnet de lecture, students will record the title and author for the book they have read, as well as the pages read, the genre, the difficulty and a rating of their interest level for that book. Parents are to initial on the sheet as well. Please see to it that your child brings the book(s) with them to school everyday as we will be using them in class. The books will travel continually from home to school and back again. Looking up some words is a good thing but going to the dictionary too often can kill interest in the reading.
Math Log
Grade 3 - Addition and subtraction facts up to 18 should be practiced daily. This can be done online, with flashcards, practice sheets etc. It is important that students study these facts for ten minutes every day.
Grade 4 - Multiplication facts up to 11. Mastery of these facts is a focus in Grade 4. Practicing these facts can be done with flashcards, practice sheets, online etc. It is important that students study these facts for ten minutes every day.
Math Sheets
Sheets will be sent home every Monday to be completed for the following Friday. This homework communicates at home what we are currently working on in Math, well as provides extra practice for the students.
