Grade 8 Technology Webquest Assignment

Before you begin, open up a word document and save as “Webquest,” then answer and save all of the following questions  in a word document. Have fun, and good luck!

1)      Go to the website www.jobbank.gc.ca and find the job search page for Nova Scotia.  Once on this webpage scroll down and click search to find any occupations that requires keyboarding skills.  You must find seven (7) jobs that require at least a requirement of “computer use”.  (Example: Customer Service Agent for Air Canada Jazz) ***Answers must come from the website***

2)      Name two keyboarding practice tests or games that you can find on the internet that you have not already played.

3)   How many words per minute does an average paralegal need to have to get a job?

4)      How many words per minute did you get on your Part I of the first keyboarding assignment?

5)      Go to Google and type in the word “keyboarding”, and then click on the first website that comes up.  Take a screenshot of the page and give the name of the website.

6)      What are “Home Row Keys”?

7)      Name at least two different types of “keyboards” that people use in everyday life. (Example: A cell phone has a “keyboard”)

8)   What is QWERTY?

9)  When was the first keyboard invented?

10) Why are all the keys mixed up on a keyboard?

11)      What are the important skills needed to keyboard successfully? (Hint: Mr. O’Leary’s info page on keyboarding)

12)   Name one aspect of keyboarding that you have trouble with, and how you are going to change it.
