Learning About the Past
Lesson
2: What sources can we use to find information to learn about
the past?
KSO: Students will be expected to identify, evaluate and use primary
and secondary sources to reconstruct and interpret the past.
Materials: the title pages made in lesson 1 (Introduction); primary/
secondary sources worksheet
Activities:
1.
With the whole class record all of the sources of information about
the past that students used in Lesson 1.
2.
Discuss the meaning of primary and secondary when using these words
to define sources of information.
3.
In cooperative groups decide to which heading each listed source
would belong.
4.
Bring disputed sources to the class for discussion and a final
decision.
5.
Complete the “Sort the Sources” worksheet and glue it into the
Social Studies scribbler.
