How We Learn About the Past

Past and Present Project

The purpose of this project is to foster an awareness that things change over time. This can be achieved by comparing answers given to questions by the student, a parent and a grandparent or other more senior friend.
Students have been given two sheets with things to compare. (These surveys ask questions about the cost of different products, activities that were popular, work and chores that were expected, how food was prepared and what people did for fun.) Once the surveys are completed students will begin to put together a project based on what they have learned.
The project must include no less than six pages. Each page needs to have a paragraph that tells the information in an interesting way and pictures that illustrate some of the points made. Comparisons of the different ways of life for each generation need to be highlighted. Personal comments about what was learned from this exercise would add interest.
Pages should be:
Introduction
Recreation and Leisure
Home Life
Food and food preparation
School Life
Summary/Conclusion

Survey pages must be included with the completed project.
