Outcomes:
Students will understand that there are several elements that make up the setting of a story and that stories often have more than one setting.
| Materials Needed: | A variety of pictures books |
| Empty cereal boxes | |
| Paper made into a long strip |
Learning Activities:
1. Students read numerous picture books and choose one to study the setting. They list he most significant events in the story, noting the setting of that event.
2. Create one panel on the paper strip for each event/setting recorded.
Evaluation: Using a cereal box with a window cut in it, students retell the story, to the class while moving the paper strip to show the appropriate setting.
