Writing and Other Ways of Representing

General Curriculum Outcomes:
- Students will be expected to use writing and other forms of representing
to explore, clarify and reflect on their thoughts and feelings.
- Students will be expected to create texts collaboratively and
independently, using a variety of forms for a range of audiences and
purposes.
- Students will be expected to use a range of strategies to develop
effective writing, media products and to enhance their clarity, precision
and effectiveness.
Writers In Action
The focus of the Writers in Action initiative is the development of strong writing skills for
students from Grades 4-6 through the implementation of the Writing and Representing outcomes
from the APEF English Language Arts Guide.

Atlantic Canada English Language Arts Curriculum Grades 4-6
This guide contains all of the outcomes with teaching suggestions. It also
has sections on Program Design and Components, Assessing and Evaluating Learning and Appendices.
The appendices are easy to use sample forms on topics such as: "Writing Modes and Formats",
"Writing Process Observation Guide", "Forms of Poetry".
