Physical Education Outline 2011-2012

 

 

All students are required to take PE and must do so unless they have written permission from a medical doctor excusing them from this subject.

 

A parent/guardian is asked to provide a written excuse if a student is to be excused from PE any day(s) unless a medical excuse is issued by a doctor.

 

Students must be prepared for each class with a change of clothing.  This could include shorts, sweatpants, non marking sneakers, socks and t-shirts.  Tank tops and jeans are not acceptable. Also, jewelry is not to be worn during class.  Change rooms are available but any valuables are left at the students’ risk. 

 

Those students who come unprepared or do not actively participate in gym class may be given an in class assignment.  If this continues, parents and the office will be notified.

 

Expecations

-          Respect for: self,others, and equipment/facilities.

-          No food or drink in the gym.

-          No electronics

-          No swearing/inappropriate language.

-          TRY YOUR BEST!!

 

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated on preparedness, effort, participation, skills (improvement and mastery), tests/assignments, and safety as outlined in the Nova Scotia Department of Education PE curriculum.

 

Units to be covered over the course of the year include: Sport Experience, Dance, Active Living, Outdoor Education, Educational Gymnastics.
