Chapter 1

 

  1. What reminded the author of his boyhood days?
  2. Describe the dog fight.
  3. Describe the dog that the author helped.

 

Chapter 2

 

1.        Billy has “that wonderful disease of puppy love.”  What does this mean? How would I know if you had this disease?

  1. Explain why Billy’s family can’t buy him the dogs that he wants.
  2. What did Billy’s father get him so because he couldn’t have dogs?  Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing? Why or why not?

  1. What plan does Billy come up with to get the money he needs?
  2. Make a list of ways that Billy earned the money he needed.
  3. Page 23.  When he turned around I noticed his eyes were moist.”  Who is Billy talking about.  Why did he have tears in his eyes?

1.        Make a table like the one below to compare the traits of each dog.  Leave enough room to add new things as you learn new things about the dogs.
