Organ System Group Project Outline

In this project you and your group will be researching information on one of the Organ systems contained in the human body. You will be researching the organs which make up the particular system, the function of the system, how the system functions itself, as well along with another of the body systems.  When your group has decided which organ system they will be doing you are to let Mr. Shaw know what it is and who has been assigned to what task.

In your group you will have an assigned task in researching a particular aspect of the project.  They tasks are as follows:

*      a) Listing all of the organs that compose the particular Organ System. This is also to include all of the tissues that make up those organs and the cells that comprise those tissues.

*      b) Describing how the organs in the system work together to allow the particular system to function properly. As well as describing the main function or job of the system your group has selected.

*      c) Research and describe how the system your group has picked as well as one of the other organ systems and explain how they work together in allowing a human body to function.

Your project must include the following criteria:

*      A full colour poster.  This is to be done on a piece of poster board, fully colored, and labeled.

*      A Power Point Presentation.  When your group has completed all of the research needed, you will be creating 1 Power Point presentation to present the results of your research to the class.  Make sure it is done in proper presentation form, (we do not want slides that have large paragraphs on them.)  It must include a title slide listing all of the names of the people in your groups, as well as a bibliography slide noting all sources for the information you received.

You will receive computer lab time when it is available to work on your research.  This may also be done outside of school, through using a computer at home or visiting your local library.  Each person will have a separate assignment, so you it is not necessary to have to be able to get together with the other people in your group outside of class.

While doing your research, please make sure you are using proper terminology, and when choosing websites, books, etc, make sure that they are level appropriate, and you understand what you are reading.

Assessment:

Most of your assessment will take place during your presentation.  You will be assessed as a group on the overall outcome of your project and presentation.  However, you will also be assessed individually on the aspect of the project you were responsible for.  You are to hand in the information you compiled for your part of the project into Mr. Shaw in a typed Essay.

Good luck and have fun!
