Positive Effective Behaviour
Supports (PEBS) is an initiative of
the Department of Education which
maximizes opportunities for students
to achieve academic skill
competence, social skill competence
and lifestyle skill competence.
|
| |
|
PEBS enhances the capacity of
schools, families, and communities
to design effective environments
that improve the link between
research-validated practices and the
environments in which teaching and
learning occurs. |
| |
|
It emphasizes the development of
school-wide systems of support that
include proactive strategies for
defining, teaching, and supporting
expected appropriate student
behaviours to create positive school
environments. |
| |
|
PEBS addresses behaviour in all
areas of the school, both in
classrooms and non-classroom
settings, such as hallways and
lunchrooms. |
| |
|
Attention is focused on creating and
sustaining individual, classroom and
school-wide systems that support the
development of social, emotional and
academic success for all children by
acknowledging desired positive
behaviours while making problematic
behaviours less effective and
rewarding. |
