Homework

Agenda:
Please check your child’s agenda daily and initial it somewhere in the box so I know you have seen the homework for the evening. I check the agendas daily to ensure the homework is copied correctly as well as to read any messages from home. I explain the homework each afternoon, so your child should be able to explain the agenda items to you. It is their responsibility to ask before leaving at the end of the day if there is something they do not understand.
Math Homework:
Students will be expected to complete weekly math homework . Math homework will be sent home on Mondays and will be due back on Thursdays. Math homework will always be directly related to what we are doing in class. It is for extra practice as well as to develop homework routines and positive homework habits.
Language Arts Homework:
Students will be expected to complete weekly Language Arts homework. The activities will vary but will include writing activities, word work, reading comprehension, etc. This homework is also due on Thursdays.
I do not assign homework on the weekends. Occasionally, there will be a project to work on, but no regular homework will be assigned for the weekends.
There will be times when unfinished class work will be sent home to be completed. If your child brings work home from class, please have him/her complete it and return it the following day. We need all duotangs at school every day to be prepared for our day.
Although a formal reading log will not be a part of the weekly homework, I hope that all students will read every night for enjoyment.
Please help your child ensure that homework is completed neatly, to the best of their ability, and also that it is handed in on time. If there is a legitimate reason why your child is unable to finish a homework assignment, please write a note in the agenda to explain the reason. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.
