Maxine Tynes
Maxine Tynes is a well known Nova Scotian poet. She has received many awards for her writing and there is a room at the Dartmouth Public Library named after her. She was a High School English teacher and a freelance broadcaster with CBC Radio. She was the first Canadian of African Descent to be appointed a member of the Board of Governors of Dalhousie University.
Her poems are read and loved by many people. Some of them teach us about how strong and determined our parents and grandparents were.
