GRADE 7 SCIENCE
In grade 7
Science we are covering four units which are organized by topic as follows:
Interactions within Ecosystems: Components of an Ecosystem, Food Webs,
Decomposers, Ecological Succession, Action
Crust: Geological Plate Tectonics and Time Scale, Rocks and Minerals, The
Rock Cycle, Weathering, Soil.
Temperature, Temperature and Matter, Heat Transfer, Technology Temperature
and Solutions: Mixtures, Solutions, Concentration of Solutions, Mixtures
Solutions and the Environment.
science items are:
Fournier Science Corner Questions: first Wednesday of each month we will
listen to Science Corner by podcast from CBC radio. The students must
e-mail me their answer to his question plus write a brief reflection of the
topic he covered in his podcast. This covers a variety of science General
Curriculum outcomes and often some Specific Outcomes as well.
Talk Science Program. Young scientists studying at Dalhousie will come and
do various curriculum based activities throughout the year with students
will have the opportunity to prepare and be part of the All Science
Challenge at Dalhousie next spring if it is offered again this year.
the assessment in science will involve the ability to critically analyze and
respond to lessons and ideas presented in class.
expected that homework is completed and passed in by the required assigned
time. Students must come to every class prepared to work…with pens, pencils,
binders with notes and loose-leaf, and textbooks.
If a student
misses class, it is the responsibility of the student to find out about the work
missed, and to catch up on any missing work. I am very willing to help the
student catch up on work, but they need to come to me for the help. I work M,
W, F and will be available for extra help any of those days from 8am-8:30am and
at 3:15; and Lunchtime by appointment.
