Performances

The School Choir and African Drum/Dance group at Shannon Park Elementary School directed by Toria Aidoo are proudly hosting their 7th Annual African Performance at their school on Monday, February 25, 2008 in their school gymnasium.  Come on out and enjoy the singing of authentic African songs, drumming and dancing, marimba playing and an African tale.  The proceeds from this venture are going towards enhancing the arts program at the school and also making a charitable donation to an educational endeavour in Africa.  Our goal is to encourage more elementary schools to start or continue a drum/dance program at their schools, as we believe this helps promote cultural awareness and understanding and improve percussion playing skills.

We are inviting classes from different schools to attend, preferably grades 4 and up.  There is a cost of $1.00 per student.  Chaperones are free.  Schools are responsible for booking their own transportation.  The show time is 10:30 a.m.  Book early as seats will fill up quickly.  Kindly fax the form below to Shannon Park School at 464-2866, stating your school, the number of students coming, the number of chaperones and the preferred time.  Please let us know no later than February 22, 2008.  There is an evening performance on Thursday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m. For schools who are interested in having us come to their school, our tour dates are: February 26, 27 and 29, 2008.
