As I find interesting Internet sites I will add links that we think might be useful to both the students and their parents. This page will by nature always be a "Work In Progress". For parents there is a separate "Parent Links" page with information you might be interested in.

NEW! - Country Reports - a GREAT Social Studies site!


 

    Country Reports - This is a great site if you are doing a report on a country for Social Studies. Although you must subscribe and pay to get the detailed information, the opening page for each country has a lot of information.
    Science - Fear of Physics - Do you want to make perfect Basketball Jump-shots? This site has lots of interactive Physics experiments that can be done on-line. It is a well organized and easy to use site.
    Science - Weather Links
    Science Fair Info  - This is a nice Nova Scotia site with a lot of useful information about Science fairs. Learn how to prepare a project for a fair, or just look at some of the great projects presented here.
    Science - Body Systems  (Updated!)
NEW     YesMag - This is an excellent site with lots of Science related information. Check out the "Projects" section for instructions on how to perform Science experiments.
NEW     Atlantic Science Links Association- This site can link you to the Scientists in the schools program, and if you follow that link, there are some excellent teaching resources there as well.
NEW     PBS Nature Puzzles & Games - This site has some great games and puzzles that are not only fun. but also educational. Take photos of animals on a safari and play them back when you finish, send a postcard to a friend with a "Nature" theme, or solve a puzzle to identify animals.
    Student e-mail System - This is the e-mail system supported by both the Department of Education and the School Board. All students in the class have an account, and should use this account for school use.
    How To Make Stuff This site has directions on how to make all kinds of "Stuff". Have a look. You might find some project you could do as your IWA.
    Language Arts Help - Links for all areas of Language Arts
    First Flight This site doesn't really have anything to do with Grade 5 Science, but I used to teach Grade 6, and they did "Flight". This site has a really cool simulation of the Wright Brothers first airplane flight. Have a look when you are all done your homework for Mr. Hill
    Interactive Math Practice - This site by the Utah State University is excellent. It allows you to use manipulatives on the computer to solve Math problems.
    Math Games -  math games we play in class or links to math games that families can play at home.
    Math Problem Solving -  Annapolis Valley Regional School Board has developed this site for their Middle school Technology Integration, but This section has excellent Problem solving activities for Grade six Math.
    Math Frog -  An excellent site run by the University of Waterloo. It has great math games for grades 4, 5 & 6. Best of all they are all FREE!
    Take a Challenge  -  A site operated by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. There are some excellent activities on estimation, and problem solving. Check out the section on Family Math.
     How to Study - This site has some helpful ideas to make studying less of a drag.

     Canada Games - Learn about Canada by playing these interactive games.
    Halifax Explosion Links
    Canada Research Help- This is an excellent resource site for your Province (or Territory) of Canada Research Project.
